After 25 years of working in the high stress, 24/7 world of hospitality management I took a leap of faith and began the transition to entrepreneurship. While consulting, I call myself a Strategic Support Specialist, and, as such, I provide marketing and operations support to small businesses, entrepreneurs and the hospitality industry.

As a respected business leader and community partner, people had begun to ask me for advice and assistance. The more I worked with small business owners and solo-preneurs, the more obvious it became that many were not using the fundamental tools necessary to measure, manage, and project their business growth. These entrepreneurs did not have any systems to prioritize and focus their energy toward a unified goal. The terms Profit and Loss Statement, Sales Projection and Action Plan were part of a foreign language. And they were struggling as a result.

I knew I could help. Years of managing operations and marketing plans, using simple, standard business tools have made the use of these tools second nature to me. I can’t imagine running a business without them.

And because I am a generalist, I appreciate the need for those tools to be simple, customized and compact. My core philosophy is that the tools are only a mechanism to gather and organize data in a format that a business operator can use to make efficient and intelligent decisions about moving forward along a success plan.

For young businesses, learning the basics, establishing the format, and committing to the routine can be a daunting task without support. For mature businesses, after the routine has become a low priority when the “fire fighting” takes precedence, getting back on track becomes too burdensome without help.
