Wisdom Walks: Finding Peace in Advice from Nature

For Mother’s Day, my beautiful daughter gifted me a “together day” that began with a trip to Butterfly World, one of my all-time favorite places. The butterflies, the birds and the flowers are simply AWESOME.

One of the things I’ve learned, is that my voice of inner wisdom speaks to me with the greatest clarity when I spend time with nature. Even the shortest of quiet moments outdoors nourishes my heart and soul and re-energizes me. This is my “wisdom walk”.

Truth be told, sometimes I don’t walk at all! Sometimes, I just sit in my backyard, breathe deeply, and just observe. I notice the wind rustling the leaves of the giant banyan. I notice the sun catching the shiny surface of my young gumbo limbo. I notice the butterflies and bees buzzing around my sunflower tree, and the Mockingbird singing, perched on the powerline.

And as all my senses come to life, all my worries, doubts and fears drift away. All the noise in my head, is suddenly quieted. My awareness grows and my voice of inner wisdom speaks.

This is peace.

Never has the voice not been there when I listen.

With practice, I can now find that peace anywhere.

So that glorious Mother’s Day morning, I was blessed to share my peace with my daughter.

And as we passed through the ButterflyWorld gift shop on our way out, I found this delightful message printed on a t-shirt:

Advice from a Butterfly:

Let your true colors show
Get out of your cocoon
Take yourself lightly
Look for the sweetness in life
Take time to smell the flowers
Catch a breeze
We can’t all be Monarchs!

So, where will you be taking your “wisdom walk” today? Come back here and tell me about it in the comments below, OK?

In the spirit of wisdom, wellness and prosperity-

I wish you well!
