First, thank you for stopping by, clicking through, and/or browsing your way to this message.
However you got here, I appreciate that you’re reading this. You may have already read this message if it came to your email INBOX. If you have, and didn’t reply, please take a moment to share your thoughts in the comments below.
Muchas gracias, grazie, mahalo, dankee, merci, toda, danke, orbrigado, salamat... in any language, I am grateful!
I know your time is valuable and I am VERY appreciative of the fact that
many of you have granted me permission to send messages to you either
through email or RSS feed.
Today, I’m asking for your help.
I hope you know that it is my intention to share my experiences simply
because they have been so life-changing for me.
The transformative power of maintaining a self-care practice, of which journaling is a BIG part, is simply awe inspiring.
I want you to feel the peace and the calm I feel each day,
in spite of the chaos and the crazy-making that has been a part of me most of my life.
One simple journal prompt began the shift for me.
No kidding. No BS.
One journal prompt opened me up to the possibility that I might find my purpose.
And I did.
And that could be true for you, too.
But I can’t support you, or anyone like you, if you don’t open the emails
I send or make your way to the blog posts I write.
So, can you tell me…
what can I do differently that would encourage you to open
an email series that you subscribed to?
Do bribes work?
Have you ever responded to a survey just to get the “prize”?
Maybe the subject line is not obvious enough?
Maybe the messages come too far apart?
Maybe they haven’t gotten to you at all?
Should they be in text format only?
Or maybe I should messaging more on
social media? Or any combination?
Please be honest.

Hi Nanette,
Nope, bribes don't work for me. It's more of what's in the title or the first few sentences that catches my interest. I've just "found" you and am inspired by your writing and look forward to reading more!
Greetings, Janice. I’m so happy we’re connecting. I love your domain name “Possibilities Unlimited.” I like to call myself a “possibility partner” so I imagine we are very kindred spirits. So, may I ask… how did you “find” me? I am fascinated by the weaving of our connections through the “world wide web”, or now known as “the cloud”. Now we can call it “The degrees of in-separation” I believe. Wishing you well–
Bribes do work…. It's just about seeing the possibilities.
Thank you Nannette.

Thank you for sharing your feedback Sabrina. I look forward to welcoming you to the Beyond Baby Steps Forum as your “prize” and entering you in the opportunity to win FREE coaching. Wishing you well!
When I see an email that does not require my immediate attention, I often think I will read it later when I "have time". Now that we subscribe to so many feeds/networks it becomes overwhelming. I am your biggest fan, and I am guilty of (inadvertently) letting some of your emails go without acknowledging or responding. So to answer your question best I would say that perhaps instead of asking 5 questions in one email, maybe you could break it down to 1 question that we can reply to with a quick answer, and send out the next question in a day or two. If you get 3 or 4 replies from a client it's better than asking 5 questions and getting no response. Hope this makes sense.
Thank you, Ginny. Your response ABSOLUTELY makes sense and is very much appreciated. Best wishes to you!
Sometime does sometime doesnt I agreed with Janice it is important what catches my eyes . Something very inspirational and powerful . I am very visual 🙂 hope this help .
Thank you Miriam. Like you, I am very visual, too, but I do find the power of words intriguing. I appreciate your feedback. Watch for an email with your “gifts” to come.
Hi Nanette,
I think that positive reinforcement of any kind can work. Whether it's a parent giving a child a toy or candy to behave or a supervisor offering a day off or a trip for winning a productivity contest, when used constructively bribes can work. That said, I believe that if the "briber" does not have a positive outcome in mind it can backfire. We have seen in politics and business that using bribes to bypass rules, regulations, and social mores may work in the short term, but the long term results can be disasterous – both for those immediately involved and those affected by the outcome.
Keep up the wonderful work.
Thank you Alan for sharing your experience here. You are uniquely qualified to speak on politics and the potential “back fire” affect, and that opens up a whole new consideration in this dialogue. So, in the retail world, is there a long term affect of “gift with purchase” or “free entry” that might not be positive? Something to think about…
And I sincerely appreciate your positive feedback and am always glad to hear from you.
Wishing you well–
Nanette
Hi Nanette,
For me it depends on what the bribe is and who the company is and what are they offering. If it's Target or some major company that i'm familar with i would probably " click on". If it's a new company and i am not familar with it , there article would have to interest me and i would want to read more.so then i would "click on". Deep down most people know they are not going to win something! Personally it's a marketing tool! I hope this helps! Good luck! Nanette
Thank you Donna for sharing your honest feedback here. I was surprised to read your note that said “Deep down most people know they are not going to win something!”. That’s eye-opening. And your comments about the content or article needing to be of interest to you, and that if the offer is from an entity that is already credible to you then you’ll behave differently, is really great insight. I appreciate that you really gave this some thought. Thanks again.
Hi Nanette,
Nop! Bribes don't work for me (well sometimes) if the topic is interesting I will surely follow it. 🙂 Great post!
