There’s an energy about Springtime that’s contagious…
bright, cheery and fresh. All things Spring make me smile!
Grounded, I allow myself to feel part of this glorious cycle of renewal.
In 2014, I claimed the word “refresh” for my word of the year. (For more on how to claim your word of the year, click here.)
So, the nature of refreshing, renewing and reviving all things is anchored in my being, especially at this time of year.
It’s no surprise, then, that in that same week, my mother shared this special poem with me, written by my Grandma Neville.
Her gift of written words is a family treasure I am blessed to share with you…
SPRING’S REVIVAL
With April comes soft showers– still
The sun peaks through, and o’er the hill
Bright-crested robins flit and sing.
Rejoice for there’s new life and Spring.
Wild March departs with little friction
Like lambs. What heavenly benediction!
Gone winter’s snow– grass spots show green–
Behold Earth’s Transformation scene.
The crocus and the white snowdrops,
Now showing through the crusted top
Of fallen leaves and twigs all brown,
Upon a wintry bed, look down.
The skipping ropes and kites appear
‘Mid childhood laughter loud and clear.
For months they’ve waited for the Spring;
Small voices, “Allelujahs” bring.
Bright bonnets, too, the shops display
While church bells call all folk to pray.
The Lent precedes the Resurrection;
Man calls on God for His Protection.
The world awakes, bright days are here
With gifts of life. Awake and cheer!
I ask you “Is there anything
That lifts one’s heart like budding Spring?”
