I just love Denise Wakeman’s Brag About Your Blog Day.
Not just because I get to share my blog with her many, many followers, but because I always find some little nugget of inspiration on one of the blogs featured there.
Isn’t that what “surfing the net” is all about? Connections and Inspirations.
I was so excited about these two mindset shifts today that I just had to rush to the keyboard to share them with you!
First, take a minute to jump over to http://creatingpicturesinmymind.blogspot.com/ and check out Laurie Longridge’s images of tree bark. Tree bark? What do you see? Her blog title, “Creating Pictures in My Mind” reminded me this morning that I have the power to see and appreciate the world in my own way. And the simple shift for me today is making my world view as light and whimsical as possible. Why not have a little fun?
That’s where I find joy…in the smile, I can see on the bark of a tree.
Then, I stopped over to check out Cameron’s http://ihavetoomanyshoes.blogspot.com/ to see what she meant by a “5 Day Accessory Challenge”. (I couldn’t pass up the mention of “too many shoes”). And in addition to some fun photos of accessories I picked up an expression I know, I’ll be using for a long, long time: Working Wardrobe Style Rut.
Boy, was that a wakeup call! Yes, if you’ve seen me out lately, you know I am definitely suffering from “working wardrobe style rut”. Black pants, quick washable top or tailored jacket in a neutral color, universal black accessories, same silver earrings, and bangles…nearly every single day.
Boring! Certainly, it’s quick, easy, efficient…doesn’t require ANY thought…but wow! Is that what I’m all about?
YUK.
Thank you, Cameron, for that wake-up call and mindset shift #2.
Now, just to be clear…I won’t be running out to buy an entirely new wardrobe tomorrow, nor will I be spending two hours every day planning my outfits, but I will be more conscious of and more deliberate in my choices.
And maybe I will dust off those red shoes.
Enjoy the day!
