Summer is officially here!
Why is it that, almost miraculously, we move into that relaxed summertime feeling just because June 21st has come and gone?
As I ponder the question, I ask myself what is that summertime feeling?
“Summertime and the livin’ is easy” pops into my head. Sung by Billie Holiday, of course, written by Gershwin and Heyward. My favorite summer-themed songs could fill pages! So, here’s another idea for an iTunes playlist. What favorites would you include?
“Fish are jumpin’…” I live in South Florida where summer brings beautiful and plentiful Mahi Mahi, aka Dolphin. They are amazing fish to watch in the crystal blue water. The ocean is generally calm, warm and inviting this time of year. Perfect for swimming.
“And the cotton is high…” no cotton in my neighborhood, yet. But a friend of mine does grow it in her yard! Summer sun and plentiful rain make gardening a pleasure this time of year. And boy is my sunflower tree growing!
So how do you describe that joyful summertime feeling?
For me, summertime means:
Warmth
Radiance
Relaxation
Calm
Clarity
Growth
Renewal
Vitality
And I stay connected to it simply by taking all of my senses with me when I spend time outside.
I breathe in the steamy, moist air. I smell the fragrant flowers, the salt in the air, the scent of the trees. I feel the grass tickle my toes, the pebbles of the brook massage my feet, the cool garden earth soothes my hands, and the sun warms my skin.
This doesn’t take hours or days. Ten minutes is all you need. Take time to enjoy the summer, especially if you live in places where summer is too short.
Connecting to the wonder and the power of nature nurtures my soul. Summer refreshes my spirit.
How will you refresh yours?
In the spirit of wisdom, wellness, and prosperity-
