The Wise Well Woman's Way

The 2012 Wise Well Woman’s Finishing Strong Challenge. Turning Over a New Leaf.

I opened my daily affirmative reading today to this headline and quote:

Turning Over a New Leaf

Autumn to winter, winter to spring,

Spring into summer, summer into fall–

So rolls the changing year, and so we change;

motion is swift, we know not that we move.

– Dinah Mulock Craik

and the opening line for the reading was this:

“Since ancient times, September has been viewed as the beginning of the new year, a time for reflection and resolution.”

Almost instantly I knew it was time to create a call to action. It was time to “step up” and to reach out to encourage you, my readers, my clients, the members of my community and coaching groups, to do the same.

Your time is now.

Though you may have spent the summer wallowing around in the muck of “If things don’t change, I’m going to have to give up…” I’m inviting you to pull up your bootstraps and join with other Wise Well Women in Business to declare:

“I will not give up on my dream, DA*% IT!” and “I CAN FINISH STRONG!”.

Here’s what I’m inviting, encouraging, and even imploring you to do:

Join me in an “ALL-IN” commitment to making this last 120 days of the year your most successful in business…ever!

Really. You can do this.

But it takes work. And true commitment. And focus. And, most importantly, support.

And yes, maybe even giving up some of that other stuff that takes up your time but doesn’t produce any results.

And yes, maybe you’ll burn the midnight oil once in a while.

And yes, maybe you’ll have to face your fear of rejection (and your fear of success) and finally, tackle that fear of managing the details, and give up your need to be perfect and forgive yourself your past failures.

And… and… and…  you fill in the blanks.

You know what I’m talking about.

Give up everything that holds you back!

That’s your old story. Old news. A tired replay.

So, what do you think?

If you could create the business you truly want and believe in, are you willing to do what it takes?

Are you?

Or are you just playing at it, pretending you’re in business — seeking, searching, spending time avoiding the things you know you need to do.

Give up or go for it.

Just do it, as the Nike theme says.

120 days is more than enough time to create real change.

120 days is enough time to create success.

120 days is enough time to lay a foundation for your business that will not only create enough revenue for you to support your dream, it will be the beginning of so many exciting things to come.

So, here’s my 120 day challenge:

The 2012 Wise Well Woman’s 120 Day FINISHING STRONG Challenge.

1. Stop by WiseWellWomen Facebook page and declare your commitment to FINISHING STRONG. As soon as it’s available, grab a copy of the Challenge badge (coming soon) and post it in a prominent place. Declare your intention in the comment section right here just below this post, too.

2. Every single day begin with a written commitment of your intention for the day. Read it to yourself outloud at least 5 times during the day. (And yes, this is taken right out of the success plan of Napolean Hill of Think and Grow Rich fame.)

3. Every single day pick one primary “to-do” action for your business and one for your personal life, based on what you know are your priorities, and make sure you complete that action. Track your progress.

4. Every single day make one-on-one, personal contact with at least one person who is either a direct prospect, or a great referral source with a specific intention to grow your business. Keep a list. Track your results.

5. Finish your day by writing out “5 things I’m grateful for today”. Keep a gratitude journal, or just enter this in your primary journal. Every day.

6. At the end of each week, on Sunday or early Monday morning, summarize your activity and your success metrics and schedule a celebration!

One start up a step. Four simple steps each and every day. Then one weekly summary and celebration. That’s it.

You can do this.

Think you’ll need some help? Here are some suggestions to support your success:

A. Get a timer, and use it during all those times you allow yourself to wonder off into “never-never land”… (you know, that email/FB/Angry Birds place that sucks all your time)… and give yourself only 15 minutes to “play” at a time.

B. Do not begin your day with email or facebook.  Begin each day with taking action on a creative project. Email and Facebook can wait until your ready to take a break from your creative inspiration.

C. Pick one calendar system and USE IT! Keep personal and business actions and appointments on the same calendar.

D. Complete a day by day marketing plan for every aspect of your business. Layout your plan for all of your events, programs, products, launches, etc. and layout the communication plan for every piece. Detail is the key here. Even if you don’t have definite dates, pencil in tentatives or maybe’s and work the steps back there.

E. Actively participate in the Beyond Baby Steps Coaching Forum & Private Facebook Group and post your weekly intentions. Email them to me to anchor your intentions and receive support and recommendations and direct business advice. If you’re not yet a member, request membership information here:  https://wisewellwomen.com/contact or simply send me an email at nanette@wisewellwomen.com with “requesting Beyond Baby Step Membership Info” in the subject line.

F. List the 5 top related LinkedIn Groups, Facebook Groups, Blog Forums you want to keep a regularly presence on and keep your activity limited to those where like-minded people/prospects are hanging out. (That’s potentially 15 groups– that’s plenty!) Be an active participant on those — commenting, sharing, liking, etc. and fight your tendency to look for more. Stay focused. Keep the list somewhere you can see it as a reminder.

G. Don’t dwell on what you haven’t accomplished so far that you intended to accomplish. Keep your attention on today and the future. What’s done is done. Enough said. Move on. Each day is a new day. Stick with it!

H. Get Support from like-minded women entrepreneurs just like you. Help is available. Use your Wise Well Women connection to reach out to make new friends and ask for support. I also provide direct, personalized, one-on-one mentorship, training and coaching. Let’s talk. I believe in offering free opportunities for anyone to explore what coaching support might look like for you. Schedule a time with me here at https://wisewellwomen.com/free-session or send me an email and request a complimentary Clarity Session. You’ll receive customized, personalized support  when we work together one-on-one and it will help prevent you from getting stuck, keep you on track and help you move forward.

Ready?

Get moving.

It’s the evening of DAY 1.

On day 120 what do you want to see?

Do you want to see success and celebration or poor, lack-luster results and more tears and disappointment?

Make the commitment.

Start now.

Yes, you can.

And I believe in you!

P.S. Don’t forget to share your commitment and requests for support and your 120 day vision (or any thoughts at all) right here in the comment section below, too.

Ask. Believe. Receive!

  1. September for me is also the beginning of a new year. First of all, as I am Jewish the holidays of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur come at this time of the year. This is the time of year to be introspective and think about the past year. Look at accomplishments and forgive past mistakes. It is also time to forgive yourself and others as well. Think about the future as to how you’d like to be and what you want for the coming year.
As a student and teacher it is also back to school time! So everything is new and exciting. I love new beginnings. Thanks you Nanette for giving me the opportunity to share my thoughts at this time of the year. I love sharing with creative and like minded positive people such as yourself.

    1. Shirah —
Thanks for sharing the reminder about the Jewish Holy Days in September. I didn’t include the reference in my summary, but Sarah Ban Breathnach, the author of Simple Abundance, did include it in her September 1 writing.

She added “Jews observe the High Holiday of Yom Kippur… a sacred withdrawal from the world for twenty-four hours in order to become right with God and others, so that real life might be renewed with passion and purpose.” She called September a time for reflection and resolution.
Beautiful sentiments for the new season.

She went on to say that “it seems to me that January resolutions are about will; September resolutions are about authentic wants.”

      She closed with this:
“September resolutions ask only that we be open to positive change.”
Sounds like we’re both committed to that 🙂

Sending you many blessings, my friend-

  2. Oh Wow – Just 120 days left – yikes! This is a real call to action Nanette, thanks. My own plans are to have my audio CD on my website in a downloadable format (currently it’s just the hard copy for sale) and to have done a launch for that. PS – great to see we are both quoting Napoleon Hill.

    1. Well, Sarah, I will definitely hold the intention for you to complete your audio CD in downloadable format. Remember, you’re always welcome to make announcements on the Wise Well WOmen Facebook Fan Page, too at http://facebook.com/wisewellwomen.

And yes, I continue to be amazed by how relevant Napolean Hill’s experience and teachings are today. Timeless.
      Wishing you well–
      Nanette
