Art Every Day Month – Day 3 and Day 4 PLARN creations

With my “Plarn” workshop coming up this month at Trash2Treasurefl.org and my commitment to Art Every Day Month (AEDM) it was the perfect time to craft a couple of sample friendship bracelets.

PLARN is plastic bag yarn. Made from shopping bags, plarn can be used as yarn for nearly any crochet, knitting or macrame project. You just cut loops from the bags and string them together to make a ball of PLARN.

And because bags come in all colors, you can even start saving special colors for patterns. My workshop partner, Pilar Batlle, created these bright flowers.

The simple bracelets were made from just two cut pieces of plarn. That length makes the perfect size for a simple chain stitch bracelet. Once you’ve got the hang of it, then you can start adding beads and other charms. This is a perfect beginner’s project and they make great gifts, too.

So, if you’re interested in learning how this is done, join me and Pilar Batlle at Trash 2 Treasure Creative Reuse Center in Fort Lauderdale on November 19th, 10 am – 1 pm. And the cost is just $10 for non-members of T2T, $5 for members, including materials. We’ll even supply the crochet hooks, but you may bring your own if you have one (size G, H, I is best).  Beginners are welcome, and experienced crocheters, too. Pilar’s created some awesome handbags, and you can too.

And don’t forget, AEDM – Art Every Day Month –  is going for the entire month of November. To see what everyone’s creating visit http://www.flickr.com/groups/arteverydaymonth/.
