The Wise Well Woman's Way

Supporting Each Other in Times of Need – The Power of Community

Here in South Florida, our friend, community member and amazing healer and chiropractor, Dr. Lynn Migdal, has suffered an incredible loss… and the community of businesswomen has come together to ask anyone and everyone for help to support her and her business during this difficult time.

Last week, in British Columbia, a surprising landslide wiped out Dr. Lynn Migdal’s lakeside home, killing her two daughters and ex-husband, who were buried in the rubble.

It’s almost impossible to imagine the overwhelming grief Lynn must be experiencing. Our intention is to allow her time to mourn the loss of her beautiful daughters and ex-husband in this unimaginable tragedy.

It warms my heart to see the outpouring of generosity in spirit and in resources that has seemed so natural, so effortless and most importantly, without hesitation.  I am witnessing the true meaning of the words “community support” and am grateful to be among such gracious and selfless women.

Dr. Lynn, as she is known, is an entrepreneur, who has made it her life’s work to provide personal healing services. Without our support, she may lose her business, unable to deliver those services at this time, as she struggles to make sense of this unbelievable turn of events. She will need so much more than our money as time passes, and you can be sure this community will be there for her in very personal ways, too, but for now, your monetary donations will ensure that she does not have to focus on anything other than healing herself. Please help as you can – even $1 or $5 makes a difference.

Use the donation box below.

Thank you.

  1. That is what I like about small communities; there is a sense of belonging with everyone. This makes is almost automatic for others to give help and any kind of support to those who are in need.

    1. Yes, Helen, I agree, our sense of belonging is what we all are hoping to find, isn’t it? And you’re right — the beauty is, that feeling is what connects us and helps us to reach out to support each other.

      Wishing you well-

  2. Hi Nanette, this is such a heart warming and heart breaking story all at the same time. Thank you for sharing. So often we shy away from dealing with the difficult issues. I am so sorry for Dr Lynn’s loss and cannot imagine how you pick yourself up and carry on – but I know she will eventually find the path. Seeing a community pull together and rally around a friend, colleague and, to some, a stranger a time like this is inspiring and creates a sense of hope about the future of this world.

    1. Yes, Sarah, I feel that tug and pull, too, of this story as one of warmth and good and yet, such deep sadness and sorrow. I choose to believe that our challenges not only make us stronger, but serve to deepen our compassion and understanding, too. And strangely enough, for me, they anchor my faith, as well.
Thanks for sharing your sense of hope.
      Wishing you well–
      Nanette

  3. I am so sorry to hear about Dr. Migdal’s loss, I can’t imagine how you go on in life after such a tragic event. It is nice to know that we, as people, still hasn’t lost that sense of ‘community’.

  4. Such a tragic story! I can’t imagine Dr. Migdal’s pain, it must be overwhelming.
It’s wonderful to see what a community can do when alerted. People do want to help and feel they make a difference in the world. Thank you for setting this up and reaching out to the community.

    1. Like you, Deborah, I choose to believe that most people do want to help and feel connected and I was glad to do my part to spread the word. I can’t take credit for the event, however. That was coordinated by a wonderful group of heart centered women who created the website, the facebook group and the actual live event. I am proud to be a part of their community.
      Wishing you well–
      Nanette

  5. Wow Nanette,

Great of you to post this! Definitely a cause worth supporting. Thank you for sharing the message as a reminder we are all community. Visiting an event created by friends and loved ones of Lynn’s a few weeks back- I realized just how amazing this community really is. Powerful to see the love and awesome energy of support available.
